CoPlace Defined: A Service-based View of Online Places

This paper investigates the relationship between online places and Web Services. While the metaphor of online places has been useful for many people in their effort to comprehend the World-Wide Web, it is not sufficient to define a Web Service for online Places. In an effort to define such a Web Service, we outline the requirements of a family of Web Services. We are striving towards the definition of a so-called CoPlace, which is an online place built by combining some elementary place services.
